Getting started

Install ClipRecall from the Mac App Store and open it. It lives in your menu bar. History capture is on by default and starts with new copies made while the app is running.

  1. 1. Copy

    ⌘C

Copy something you want to use again. Text, links, HTML, and images up to 4 MB per item are supported.

  2. 2. Recall

    ⌥V

Open the history with Option + V. Use the up and down arrow keys, or click an item, to choose what to restore.

  3. 3. Continue

    Return → ⌘ V

Press Return to put the selected item back on the clipboard. Then press Command + V in your destination app. This is the default behavior.

These arrow-key actions apply to the history tab. In kaomoji and symbol grids, arrows move between characters. The global shortcut can be changed in settings.

Keep what matters

Read before you recall.

Pause the pointer over a history row or press the right arrow to open its body preview. Use Page Up, Page Down, Home, and End to move through long content. Hover previews can be turned off in settings.

A pin for the keepers.

Use an item’s pin control to keep it across app restarts. Pinned items are encrypted on your Mac and don’t count toward the 25-item regular history limit. Clear all removes only unpinned history.

04

Make it yours

A quieter fit for your desktop.

Choose Standard or Compact density. Adjust the panel’s background, text color, opacity, and blur, or start from a preset. Change the global shortcut and app language in settings.

A few good answers

Why did my history disappear after quitting?

Regular history stays only in memory and is not saved between app sessions. Pin something if you want to keep it. Check any storage warning before relying on a new pin to survive a restart.

How do I pause or remove history?

Pause history capture from the menu bar before sensitive work. Delete individual items or use Clear all for unpinned history. Delete All Data is a separate, confirmed action that also removes pins, saved data, and the current system clipboard.

Does clipboard content leave my Mac?

No. ClipRecall does not send or sync clipboard content and includes no analytics. Optional tip purchases are handled separately by Apple through StoreKit.
